THE HARDER THEY COME, THE HARDER THEY FALL
Dear Editor,
Just what is wrong with South African boxers? The last time Catherine Phiri fought a south African, she didn’t sweat to beat her opponent who to me appeared more like beauty pageant than a boxer.
This boxer upon arrival at the airport promised to beat Catherine and said she will have no mercy despite Catherine losing her dad{in reference to late Sata}.
However, the fight didn’t last as expected. In the same vein, Dalise Komani, the challenger to Ibrahim Mohammed Muwowo promised to teach our boxer a boxing lesson, and his trainer went on to feel pity for Mohammed to lose the belt at a tender age.
These two said Ibrahim had been fighting fake boxers and it was time he met a real boxer, but alas, the man kissed the canvas five times in three rounds and he never threw a singhle punch, he was on the receiving end.
That just shows how Zambian boxers are determined to rule the boxing world, and to that I write to salute Chrisy Malunga and Oriental Stables for putting every effort to win fights. However, the fight between Rolita Muzeya and Joyce Chisale of Malawi left much to be desired in terms of judging. Our boxer was beaten pants down in nearly all the rounds but surprising she was declared winner on technicality that Chisale dropped the gum two times.
To me that was not fair, Rolita lost that fight, and Mike Weaver Zulu has a daunting task to build the girl to international stardoms just like Cathy and Muwowo are. That aside congratulations to Oriental Boxing Stables for winning all the fights.

Ministers failing the President
Dear Editor,
Just what will profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? In view of the above, I wish to commend the Head of State and Commander -in- Chief of the combined Armed Forces to join hands with the Ministry of Health, and Local Government to fight cholera by cleaning public places especially markets.
While I feel for the many farmers as well as many traders for the loss of business, it is imperative that we prevent the spread of the deadly disease than spend colossal sums of money to cure it.
Instead of counting how many lives have been saved during this period, some unpatriotic Zambians are counting on the losses encountered by Farmers and businessmen! such kind of thinking mentality is very retrogressive and our Soldiers need to helped in this noble cause as they try to save lives.
It is further argued that cleanliness is next to Godliness, so when the men and women in uniforms leave the markets I appeal to our traders in the markets and the general populace to maintain high standard of hygiene and cleanliness. We don’t need the head of state to tell us to clean our working places, we just have to be smart. So what will profit you by trading in dirt place and die of cholera? Anonymous

Public service competence
Dear editor,
It is not a secret that the PF Government is the best so far but look at the dirty campaign against it by some of the, uncaring and incompetent former ministers.
But because they seem to engage Zambians using right communication channels, they seem to be heroes.
Kalaba because of his cool appearance some Zambians thought he was a good leader, sadly this is the man who did not want to talk to ordinary Zambians for no apparent reasons, how will he look after the same ordinary Zambians that he looked down on if he becomes president ?
Fellow citizens, I think we are smarter than Kalaba, nothing has changed about him, his altitude towards ordinary Zambians is still ugly. What is at play is the little diplomacy and international relations he has learnt. No wonder, he seems to be a bit cool. It is imperative for government to start informing people about any public purchase of big magnitude to starve these malicious former ministers from leveraging on lack of correct information on many public purchases to scandalize the government .
Today Zambians fear ministers like the way they fear the devil because they are not open to their ideas.
The President should find time to mingle with ordinary Zambians and share with them the successes, challenges, concerns and plans for tomorrow.
I have no doubt that a well organized ruling party will take care of some of the concerns of the grassroots but the problem right now is that the same incompetent ministers are the ones that belong to the central committee of the ruling PF . The President should know that his people don’t answer calls from both members of the party and ordinary Zambians.
They don’t want to attend to people’s problems, hence discontent. The earlier the situation is corrected, the stronger the party and the government systems will become.

Shut down taverns and bars also
Dear Editor,
Allow me space in your paper to thank Government for the measures it has taken to combat the cholera epidemic.
The response has been overwhelming and historic. However, I am only concerned about the issue of banning worship services yet bars and taverns are allowed to operate from 11:00 to 19:00 hours.
I think even bars would have been shut while church services allowed.
In the Biblical times, when people had such problems, they would meet at the Tabernacle to ask for God’s intervention. Anyway we will continue praying from our homes.

Why did they swap Sata’s speech?
Dear Editor,
The revelation by former Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda that some people swapped the Presidential speech makes sad reading. The question that begs honest answers is why did they swap the abridged speech in favour of a long one? This revelation by Chikwanda should be taken very seriously by investigative wings of Government. The abridged speech had great pronouncements especially on Constitutional changes where the office of Prime Minister was to be considered. It is my wish that this matter will be investigated thoroughly.

We need a clean city
Dear Editor,
Business is supposed to be done in the conducive environment, in a shop or market. Where there is sanity and order, competition friendly, proper garbage disposal, good security, near clean water and toilets. Not on the street’s that’s a place reserved for parking vehicle’s and for pedestrians not for business that’s why the town is never clean and always noisy, and it’s even hard moving around because there’s little space. Drainages are blocked because people dispose garbage in drainages. It’s not a good place to do business in the streets. Therefore, the clean-up exercise in town is a welcome move. I only hope that it will continue .We need a clean city to move freely.

Politics behind environmental degradation
Dear Editor,
A man has for so long tried to fight nature using politics and nature has proven itself that it is more than politics. There are so many environmental problems that Zambia is facing today because of an act of a politician. There are people who are building houses near Chunga land fill and this is because a politician has given them permission to do so. There are people who are suffering because of the lead in Kabwe, people are suffering because of carbon dioxide in Mufurila,, people are suffering because of the water contamination of KCM. The surprising thing is in all of this happening we have not came to an understanding that we cannot fright nature. We thought that business is more important than the environment, we thought that politics are more important than the environment. I think the time has come as Zambian to stop the business as usual and start caring for our own environment.

LCC needs to up their socks
Dear Editor,
In as much as we try to maintain the beauty of the city we need to be mindful that the same streets are a reason why one is in school today, the same streets are the reason why one has not died of hunger, the same streets are a reason why someone is affording to have a roof on their head. Therefore it is not just saying removing vendors from the streets but rather finding a solution that will befit both vendors and the city. Even if the cities are cleaned, the beauty will not be for long if policies are not enacted by the Lusaka City Council to see to it that that the campaign continues. Otherwise it is a dream of every reasonable citizen to see to it that our country’s beauty is preserved but not at the expense of vendors

Stone Age politics should remain in 2017
Dear Editor,
Daniel Mulenga’s text message which appeared in the Daily Nation, Monday edition appealing to politicians to learn to keep quite has come at the right time. We are in the political environment where some politicians think they are cleverer or more corrupt free than their friends. It is high time such people desist from this stone age kind of politics. Let 2018 be a year of change in the way politics are conducted.
