LAZ is dangerously hypocritical
Dear Editor
On one hand LAZ is paying legal fees for Nchima Nchito the lawyer representing Fred M’membe whose tax evading firm, the Post is being liquidated in the High Court and on the other hand the same Association has now applied to be a friend of the court liquidating the company apparently to offer impartial professional advice on the liquidation.
This is contradictory. You cannot support the respondent, in this case Fred M’membe by paying his legal obligation and then hope to sit in court as Amica Curia or friend of the court. This is totally illogical and untenable.
Lawyers that have criticised this position have now been summoned for disciplinary action by LAZ.
What type of duplicity and hypocrisy is this?
It is the height of the worst form of hypocrisy and lack of professionalism for the Law Association of Zambia to hold a partial and political position on a matter which will create divisions in the organisation.
By paying bills for Nchima Nchito the Association has taken a very clear political position in support of tax evasion, it therefore impossible for the same Association to become an impartial friend of the court in the matter where the liquidation is at issue.
It ius this contradiction that has caused division in the Association. Members are wondering why a professional body that should be above individual political frays should now take sides and at the same time claim moral superiority by applying for an impartial role in a matter before the court.
Add to this the fact that LAZ has also taken sides in the 2021 Presidential race. It is opposing the bid by President Edgar Lungu.
This is a political position that is divisive and without members consensus. It puts the association in the eye storm of political controversy, which a professional body should never find itself.
In all fairness the LAZ Council must come out in the open and tell the people of this great country why they have chosen to pay the fees for Nchima Nchito the brother of Mutembo Nchito?
Are people correct in assuming that LAZ has become a family law firm in which social relationship and consanguinity are the main driving force.
Can the LAZ council kindly enlighten the nation.
Obsequious

HH and his end time games
Dear Editor
The looming show down between UPND and Police over cancelled rally in Kanyama by the later makes more than interesting reading.
For one thing it is clear for me that bitter Hichilema (whatever that means) is all intent to cause problems for President Lungu for as long he (HH) is not in State House. The disappointment of the loser of course.
I am mindful too that the 2016 election loss has continued to create an incurable political fever which has inadvertently ruined his presidential ambitions whether he wants to admit it or not.
For me HH is politically washed out and soon he will know who his successor is.
But this time round he may be running out of lucky not only with the police but even within the UPND which is now deeply divided.
Hear me all you nice people of this country. I think Gary Nkombo is now the rising star in UPND.
He is the one who calls the ropes like he did in the last Parliamentary boycott by UPND MPs and where was HH when all this was happening?
I may be wrong but watch that young man Nkombo. While he is a seasoned politician for being in parliament for this long HH has not tasted that power in the House apart from asserting himself at the top of UPND. By the way Nkombo is also Chief Whip for the opposition that did not come by accident.
I think that Nkombo has a vision and given the chance he would transform UPND and make it a true national party. That is my opinion.
However and perhaps more importantly it shocks me that each time a person who wants to be president of Zambia opens his mouth all what drips out of his mouth are pure insults. Hardly inspiring.
But those insults too carry a message that HH knows he is politically done and is not going anywhere. May be those people who said God’s time is always the best were spot on!
Again HH propensity to violence is simply amazing.
Take the cancelled Kanyama rally, HH says whether police like it or not, he is going ahead of it because he wants to be a small-time hero of UPND.
But like as I have said he will run out of lucky one of these days and find himself in big trouble because no one is above the law. perhaps that’s what he wants to win political sympathy which he thinks can take him to State House.
Nay, it does not work like that. Hate, insults, arrogance will only help to destroy him because he is not dealing with Zambians of yesteryears. Zambia today is full of young intelligent people who equally despise tribalism.
You certainly do not have to be Adolf Hitler to make your point because the whole world will forever laugh at you.
It is a matter of time.

Police should tame UPND
Dear Editor
For me I think lawlessness in UPND has reached a frightening peak and it is about how it was cut to size for the sake of all peace loving Zambians.
The latitude with which HH of UPND challenges our police is unbelievable yet true.
Are those men and women in uniform truly made of substances that their counterparts the world over are made of? I am beginning to doubt them.
I am asking our police service for once to put UPND thugs who will make trouble in their tins should they break the law by holding an illegal rally.
Maybe HH loves to see blood shed but the rest of us do not. He may not be a resolute leader and that’s the more reason we don’t want to be part of dangerous political games.
There is something unusual about people who always want to dare or break the law.
The police must this time deal firmly with those with an aura of undeserved superiority and arrogance that borders on a personality disorder.
These are people with inflated sense of self-worth. They are
angry; autistic; rude; self-absorbed; grieving; or what?
Right now the police should not ignore the live of about 3 million people in Lusaka just for those seeking attention and not getting it.
Should UPND decide to break the law over its cancelled rally, let police take the war to their territory and once that is done the rest of us can hopefully go fishing.
Enough is enough and there is nothing extremely special about UPND apart from exposing its high levels of hooliganism.

HH has run UPND aground
Dear Editor,
It is scaring how the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema continues to insult everyone.
I urge the UPND Members of parliament to wake up. Zambia belongs to all of us not only one tribe.
Look at your constituencies, since you were voted in what have you done for people that voted for you.
There are no good roads in Livingstone, Kalomo, Kazungula etc. but you are busy running away from the person who is supposed to help you work

God bless Evans, driver of Power Tools bus
Editor,
My son was in the bus that was almost hit by a fuel tanker before Kabwe on Friday, 23rd March. He said after the big impact which shook the bus, the driver remained calm and kept the bus steady, encouraging the passengers to remain calm. As I rushed to the accident scene, the bus was literally just centimetres away from the edge. It was indeed God’s grace and the calm driver who was not drunk. May the good Lord give us more good drivers on our roads like Evans

Be grateful to God
Editor,
When you complain about the food you eat, think of those who have nothing to eat. When you are not happy with your job, think of those who wish they had your job. When you think of how hard your life is, think of the dead and thank God that you are still alive. Let’s fight for our lives using Gods word!

Opposition behaving like children
Editor,
Why is everyone in the UPND behaving like children? They can’t forget about the past! How many times are we going to hear from them? We are tired! I am a disappointed UPND supporter. Viva PF, viva President Lungu!

UPND have themselves to blame
Editor,
I personally think the UPND have themselves to blame for the Police denying them a permit to hold their rally in Lusaka. Firstly, people must reflect on their behaviour starting from their president through to their MPs up to their grassroots in the three provinces that voted for them. The truth is, this bunch of people are undisciplined, nothing less and nothing more. You can’t run a party with such disgruntled elements who will just follow whoever says, let do this or that, even if it’s wrong. The case on hand is the boycotting of the Presidential address of Parliament recently by their MPs. They must know that Zambia is a country of orderliness and not chaos as their behaviours portray.

Law breakers must face the law
Editor,
The breakers of the law must be met head on. Any person who petitions the election must wait for the outcome of the petition lest it’s considered contempt. If they are not sure of the rightful winner, why petition in the Courts of Law in Zambia? You have to wait for your petition to be heard and cleared in the Courts so that you would know who the winner is. You must apologize to the Republican president and the nation for your unwarranted boycott of Parliament and abusive language to the Speaker of Parliament. You are asking for permits under oath to a Commander you don’t recognize!

Too many roadblocks
Editor,
There are too many road blocks from Lumumba Bus Station to Mumbwa. We have about five roadblocks on this route. May the Minister responsible please do something?

Police hiding truth over murdered ZAF officer
Editor,
The Zambia police wants to hide the truth by carrying the investigation in a quick way to shield the officers who killed the ZAF sergeant .My questions for Zambia police is, where was the officer or officers on duty when the sergeant was being beaten by the inmates? What is the name of the officer who arrested him when the accident happened at a drinking place? Who was the first one to know that the sergeant is dead? I still have a bunch of questions for you just wait.
