Zambian songstresses Kay Figo and Judy Yo have come together for 2018 music collaboration with Ghanaian’s Epixode.
The project is a presentation of Sothern African Music Movement that is poised to promote artistes in the Southern region and make them get international recognition.
It is clear, the Western part of Africa has done very well in terms of presenting music beyond Africa and Ghana and Nigeria have both taken lead in that regard. This is probably the more reason, the project seeks to put Southern African artistes to collaborate with those in the Western side.
The Kay Figo, Judy and Epixode song is called ‘Enemy’ and will serve as pilot project to see how much influence the song will have. It also means there are more of such collaborations lined up.
Zambian music producer Raydo of Digital X has since applauded this collaboration and believes this is a great chance for Zambian artistes to prove their worth.
Having worked with both Judy and Kay Figo, Raydo is hopeful the song will receive massive attention and he is looking forward to more collaborations that can push Zambian talent internationally.
“As a producer of the song, I wish to state that this is just the beginning of greater collaborations and I am very confident of what the song will achieve to the two Zambian artistes on it,” said Raydo.
The song is set far away from Raydo’s usual presentations as it has a strong Afro-pop fusion that gives Judy Yo and Kay Figo enough room to explore their vocal abilities while maintaining Epixode’s strength on the rap. It also blends in some raga dance hall effects that engages Kay Figo in some serious raga dancehall flow.
The song is available on various social media music platforms.
