A 71- YEAR OLD man of Chavuma district has been brutally killed by suspected Karavinas.
The incident happened yesterday around 21:30 hours at Chimbila village.
North Western Province commissioner of police Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident to Daily Nation and named the victim as Kambanji Mutaipi.
He said an axe was allegedly used in the act, adding that the victim sustained five deep cuts on the neck and head.
“Yes, I can confirm that we recorded a murder case in Chavuma in which an elderly man was axed to death by unknown people but suspected to be Karavinas,” said Mr Daka
He said a docket has since been opened and investigations have been instituted.
Meanwhile, police in Mushindamo have picked a body of a 19 year male youth. Mr Daka said body was found in Kamisenga stream in St Dorothy area yesterday and identified the deceased as Pephias Kasongo of Kasongo village in chief Mulonga’s chiefdom. “The deceased was found with head injuries and was bleeding from the nose, mouth and ears,” he said.
He said no arrests has been made and the body has since been deposited in Solwezi General Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
