ALL is set for the Kufukwila traditional ceremony of the Kaonde speaking people of Senior Chief Mukumbi of Kalumbila district.
A check by the Daily Nation at the senior chief’s palace found organisers putting final touches to their preparations.
And Mukumbi Royal Establishment chairperson Douglas Muluka said in an interview that all is set for the annual traditional ceremony expected to be graced by President Edgar Lungu.
‘’The ceremony will be held on May 20 this year and we expect people to start arriving on Friday (today) and wish to extend our invitation to all Zambians to come and witness our ceremony,’’ Mr Muluka said.
He said this year’s ceremony will be special in that Senior Chief Mukumbi will be celebrating his 57th anniversary of being on the throne.
‘’So, it will be very unique because as you may be aware that his royal highness is the second longest serving chief and this year as earlier said he will be celebrating his 57th anniversary of being on the throne,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Kalumbila district commissioner Robinson Kalota has disclosed that the road leading to Senior Chief Mukumbi’s palace has been graded.
‘’I can safely confirm that the road has been done, so people coming for the ceremony should not be worried because the road is now passable regardless of the vehicle one is driving,’’ Mr Kalota said.
He also said security has been heightened to ensure that all those attending the ceremony were safe.
