…Gary Nkombo to accompany him to meet with South chiefs
By Aaron Chiyanzo
CHISHIMBA Kambwili knelt down before UPND Mazabuka constituency lawmaker, Gary Nkombo and begged him to accompany him as he went to apologise to the traditional leaders in Southern Province.
According to impeccable sources, the Roan constituency lawmaker went to Mr Nkombo’s house in Mazabuka where he begged for forgiveness and asked him to arrange a meeting with the traditional leaders.
The eyewitnesses said that Mr Kambwili went down on his knees and begged Mr Nkombo and apologised for his atrocities before being escorted to meet the traditional leaders.
And investigations by the Daily Nation have confirmed that Mr Nkombo had truly accompanied Mr Kambwili when he met with the Chiefs.
“Mr Kambwili met with the MP, Gary Nkombo, before being escorted to meet Chief Monze and other traditional leaders. He had to kneel down before Mr Nkombo, at his house, in front of other UPND members and a crowd that had come to take a glimpse of Kambwili. That was when they proceeded to Monze,” the source said.
However, efforts to get a comment from Mr Kambwili proved futile as his phone went unanswered and did not respond to text messages.
Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili and Mr Nkombo have always been known to be at loggerheads with each other, as evidenced from their numerous squabbles in Parliament.
Mr Nkombo almost faced a possible suspension or expulsion from Parliament for insulting Mr Kambwili on the floor of the house.
This was when Mr Nkombo raised a point of order to ask the Speaker on whether he was going to intervene on calls by 14 Cabinet Ministers for then acting President Guy Scot to resign.
In a surprise turn of events, the two have become friends since Mr Kambwili begged Mr Nkombo and apologised to the people of Southern Province.
