THE KINGDOM of Jordan has proposed to enter into necessary Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements with Zambia that will give the two countries sound footing to enhance bilateral ties for their common good.
Jordanian director-general for African Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yousef Abdelghani has since called for strengthening of bilateral relations with Zambia through economic and technical co-operation.
Ambassador Abdelghani noted that as Jordan sought to increase interaction with Africa, Zambia was a case of special nature given the country’s record of political stability and investment opportunities backed with progressive laws.
The ambassador said Jordan was ready to share its technical know-how and capacity-building in various fields in addition to engaging in trade and investment activities.
The Zambian Mission in Turkey’s first press secretary Jerry Munthali, said that was disclosed when Charge’ d’ Affaires of Zambia in Turkey, Bwalya Nondo paid a courtesy call on him at his office in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
He said the Zambian Mission in Turkey covers Jordan as a country of extra-accreditation.
Ambassador Abdelghani and Mr. Nondo underscored the need for the two countries to establish a framework for co-operation including a Joint Permanent Commission of Co-operation to be used as a platform for advancing common interests between the two countries.
Mr. Nondo was accompanied by first secretary for Economic Cephas Silwamba and Honourary Consul at the Zambian Consulate in Amman Dr. Yousef Essam Alazizi, who was in Jordan to attend the Zambia-Jordan Investment Promotion Forum organised by the Amman Chambers of Commerce and Industry where the Zambian Mission showcased investment opportunities.
