I WARNED UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema that his arrogance would lead him in trouble but he is a man who does not take advice from anyone, former UPND presidential spokesperson Edward Mumbi has charged.
And Mr Mumbi has vowed that members of the UPND will never give vice president of the party Geoffrey Mwamba a chance to take over the presidency because he is not a southerner.
He said that Mr Hichilema was a very arrogant man by nature and did not take advice from anyone except the five top Tonga people whom he did not mention.
Mr Mumbi told the Daily Nation that he had on several times warned Mr Hichilema that his arrogance would get him in trouble.
He said that it was no surprise to him that the UPND leader had found himself in the current predicament because he was wrongly advised.
Mr Mumbi explained that if one advised Mr Hichilema against something, by midnight he would receive counter advice and do the exact opposite.
“HH by nature is a very arrogant person and does not take advice from anyone except the five top Tongas surrounding him. If you advise him, by midnight some other people advise him the contrary of what you did”,
“On a number of occasions I would advise him that this may not be the best approach but that advice was always disregarded” he said.
Mr Mumbi said that the UPND was naturally a ferocious party as evidenced by the violence that they perpetuated in Mufumbwe during the campaigns for last year’s election.
Meanwhile, Mr Mumbi claimed that UPND vice president for administration Geoffrey Mwamba Bwalya was going to suffer a very serious denunciation if tried to take over the UPND presidency.
He reiterated that the UPND was an extremely tribal party and that they would not allow anyone who was not a southerner to take over presidency.
Mr Mwamba explained that the UPND held ethnicity in highest esteem and that Mr Mwamba would not get many votes from Southern province in an election.
