A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has survived a crocodile attack in the Lunsemfwa River in Luano.
The girl’s close shave with death was disclosed by her father, Mr Bedford Katiti, who is Luano District Council vice chairman.
Mr Katiti was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation at Kabwe General Hospital where his daughter is being treated.
Mr. Katiti explained that his daughter, a Grade 6 pupil at Chimika Primary School was attacked while playing and swimming with friends by the edge of Lunsemfwa river.
He said the reptile hit his daughter in the back and she fell in the water. She was however saved by a woman who pulled the crocodile by the tail forcing it to let go of the girl.
“My girl sustained deep cuts on the waist and thighs after being bitten by the crocodile. Her condition is stable. I am deeply thankful to the woman who saved the life of my daughter through God,” Mr. Katiti said.
Mr. Katiti also thanked the health department in Luano and the District Commissioner for their quick response in taking his daughter to Kabwe General Hospital.
And Mr. Katiti has appealed to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife to crop the crocodiles from Lunsemfwa river that are terrorising people and killing domestic animals such as goats.
