THE fire at the Ministry of Works and Supply which gutted one office but was contained by the Fire Brigade was due to power overload on one meter, says Lusaka City Council Town Clerk Alex Mwansa.
Mr Mwansa confirmed that there was a fire at one of the offices at the Ministry of Works and Supply due to many appliances which were connected to a single meter resulting in a power overload.
He said the fire was quickly contained before it could spread to other offices by the Fire Brigade officers.
“Yes its true there was a fire this was due to a lot of appliances which were connected to a single meter, so there was an overload but officers managed to contain the situation before it could spread to other offices,” he said.
Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri said they had not yet received the information but that it was procedure that they needed to be informed.
