Dear Editor,
The reported glaring corruption being perpetuated by some top civil servants and civic leaders in Chingola makes a sad reading for our once cleanest town.
It is sad that where the majority residents have been awaiting development to reach their communities from the same people, they are busy abusing their offices with impunity.
President Lungu should surely move in fast and come to the aid of Chingola residents who have suffered lack of development amidst squabbles for a long period.
There is an English adage that goes “Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house”.
If the wealth being amassed by the few was being shared with all, there was definitely not going to be any complaints.
Alas, the opposite is what is pertaining.
We await to hear what more is going to come in the lime light sooner than later.
Chingola is seemingly at a standstill with no proper coordination from those empowered to take development to the people.
The Mayor seems to be working alone while the District Commissioner is also a loner and off air most of the times, just warming the office.
As if this is not enough, only a handful of Councillors are seen to be relevant to their communities while the top civil servants have taken the opportunity to enrich themselves.
Why should Chingola look like a cursed town when there is coordinated collaboration between civil servants and civic leaders in other towns to foster development?
