GOVERNMENT has warned elderly men to desist from dancing with young girls during cultural ceremony performances.
Permanent secretary Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection in the ministry of energy and water development Bishop Dr Edward Chomba said involving young girls in cultural performances with older men should be discouraged.
He observed that girls spent a lot of time during rehearsals thereby depriving them of time to concentrate on their studies.
Bishop Chomba said this at the Ibaloli Cultural Group of Senior Chief Mukumbi’s area during the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Kimilombe community dam in Lumwana East area in Kalumbila district recently.
“We appreciate dancing and celebrating but let the old men be paired with old women and not vice versa.
Young girls should spend time studying not rehearsing with old women for cultural dances,” Bishop Chomba said.
