GILGAL Christian Community Centre (GCCC) under the Pentecostal Holiness Church has spent a total of K22,000 on a project to construct a borehole at Mwambashi Primary School in Itimpi ward of Kitwe.
The centre, through Amenshi For Life which is an initiative of Someone Family Impact, gives clean water to communities in need of the commodity.
Board chairperson of Someone Family Impact Zambia and senior pastor of (GCCC) Innocent Silwamba said the philosophy of his institution was to partner with Government through civic leaders to supplement Government efforts.
Pastor Silwamba was speaking at the weekend in a speech read for him by administrator for Amenshi For Life David Banda during the commissioning of the borehole at Mwambashi Primary School by Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe.
Pastor Silwamba said he was happy that the area councillor Mpasa Mwaya was instrumental to ensure that the project was successful.
“Amenshi For Life is an initiative that exist to give clean water to communities in need of this precious commodity. So this is why we decided to organize funds and put up a borehole here. A total of K22,000 has been spent on the buying and installing of a borehole at Mwambashi Primary School in Itimpi ward.
“Our philosophy is to partner with Government through civic leaders and through them, we supplement Government efforts of bringing water closer to the community. Let me hasten to thank the area councillor who has been instrumental in all aspects to ensure that the project was successful,” Pastor Silwamba said.
He said the area councillor worked tirelessly to mobilize the community, facilitate the rehabilitation works and installation of the stand for the borehole.
“We therefore like to say a ‘big thank you’ to you Councillor Mpasa and the whole team that made our work easy. We wish to let you know that, in the next two months, Amenshi For Life will be donating two more boreholes in Mulenga and Kamakonde compounds.
“Our appeal to your office is that our partnership should get strengthened because Amenshi For Life is available to help bring water closer to the communities. Our aim is to raise enough funds to keep drilling boreholes in communities which are in dire need of clean and safe water,” he said.
And Ms Mwaya said she was grateful that the church had decided to partner with Government in addressing water problems in her ward.
Ms Mpasa said the Patriotic Front (PF) government will not engage in any battles with the church, but will always work in partnership to improve the lives of the people.
She said the good works of the church of preaching salvation and improving the lives of the less privileged in communities were important and will always be appreciated by the PF government under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.
“The PF under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu has respect for the church because it is a great partner in development. The church has always demonstrated true and genuine partnership with Government by supplementing its efforts in various ways.
“As area councillor for Itimpi where the church has put up the borehole to alleviate problems of water, I must say I am humbled by this development and it is an indication of true partnership,” Ms Mwaya said.
