CHISHIMBA Kambwili shocked the Bemba Royal Establishment when he desperately wanted attend the ukusefya pa ng’wena, a traditional ceremony that he had never shown interest before.
Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga ll says he is convinced former Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili had ill intentions for the Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena Traditional Ceremony, which was why he barred him from attending.
He said Mr Kambwili had never shown willingness to aid the Bemba Royal Establishment despite requests to him and even when he served as Cabinet minister.
The traditional ruler said it was surprising that the Roan member of Parliament had suddenly found a connection with the Bemba Royal Establishment when he had never attended the ceremony in the past.
The Mwine Lubemba said his intentions to attend this year’s Bemba ceremony last weekend came as a shock to him and the Shi Lubemba knowing that he wanted to attend Ukusefya pa Ngwena traditional ceremony at a time he turned anti-Government.
“The Bemba Royal Establishment has a right to invite its guests to the Traditional Ceremony, and records show that Mr Kambwili had never attended the celebrations, why attend now?
“What was his real intentions in attending the ceremony this time around when he had turned against Government?” he asked.
The Paramount Chief said that Mr. Kambwili was practicing politics of confusion, which he wanted to bring to the traditional arena knowing that Republican President Edgar Lungu would be there.
He said the Roan parliamentarian never stepped a foot at the Bemba ceremony not even when he was Chief Government spokesperson as Information Minister, not even as one of the prominent Bembas.
The Bemba Chief was speaking during a Radio Mano programme organized by Kasama Community Radio Mano where he said the Roan member of Parliament has never even contributed anything towards the preparations or activities of the ceremony even when the committees based on the Copperbelt and Lusaka respectfully, wrote to him for assistance.
He said the situation could have overshadowed the ceremony with his political approach which could have disturbed the celebrations.
The Mwine Lubemba said he got surprised to hear that Mr Kambwili wanted to attend the ceremony without being invited by the Organizing Committee, “So, what was the purpose of coming for the first time mu kusefya pa ng’wena which he had never participated? It was something strange. So, why should he come now?” he wondered.
The Paramount Chief suspected that if he had been allowed him to attend, there could have been confusion as was the case in Mongu and Chongwe which functions ended in confusion.
