PARAMOUNT Chief Chitimukulu has declined to lead the movement for reconciliation by political opponents because the Church and some traditional authorities have made pronouncements ‘‘prejudicial’’ to this task.
The Chitimukulu, Mr Henry Kanyanta Sosala, writing in a critique he calls ‘‘Words can stop storms’’, accused chiefs in Southern Province of having taken a partisan stance over the issue by calling for the release of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema, whom they allegedly called their “son”.
Emphasizing that the role of traditional leaders in the country was to keep the peace, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu regretted the adversarial stance that some traditional leaders in Southern Province had taken against President Edgar Lungu and the PF government.
