COACH Wedson Nyirenda has been granted his wish to camp the Chipolopolo team in Mongu ahead of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) to be held next month in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview after the team broke camp yesterday morning at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, assistant coach Aggrey Chiyangi confirmed that the team will head to Mongu this week.
Chiyangi said they are supposed to be in Mongu for about six days before leaving for camping aboard.
“We will head for camping in Mongu next week. The team will be there for five to six days. It is a belief that it will help the players shape well for the tournament,” he said.
He was happy with the effort the players are putting in during training.
Chiyangi said the players were shaping up well with an impressive fitness level.
The team broke camp to allow players celebrate the festive season with their families.
Zambia is in Group B with Namibia, Uganda and Ivory Coast.
The tournament which will run from January 12 to February 4 in Morocco is for national team players who are playing in their country’s own domestic league.
