THE Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) has appointed Cheelo Mwanachingwala as the new general secretary.
ZAVA president Nakaonga Kakoma confirmed the development in a statement issued to Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka.
Kakoma is optimistic that the appointment of Chingwala will add a lot of value to the administration of Volleyball as a sport in Zambia.
“The Volleyball Executive Board convened on 2nd November 2017 to ratify the appointment of Cheelo Mwanachingwala as the general secretary of the Zambia Volleyball Association.
“Mwanachingwala comes with a unique cultural placement and wealth of volleyball knowledge required for the progress of the sports in Zambia,” Kakoma said
“Mwanachingwala, who will be based in Lusaka is a banker by profession and brings with him a huge comic following as well as diverse crowd due to his entertainment antics. This is something that could benefit the association in reaching new heights.
“The board wishes to thank Sililo Mabiya for his work while serving as general secretary and believes his knowledge of the sport remains vital to the learning process and eventual success of volleyball in Zambia,” she added.
Mwanachingwala is a former national team player and served UNZA Volleyball Club as club coordinator before serving as Southern Province Volleyball Association interim secretary.
