CHAVUMA district commissioner Benjamin Mufunga says Government is not interested in school administrators who spend time politicking instead of providing quality education.
Mr Mufunga said such conduct will not only delay service delivery but also land individual practitioners in trouble.
“It is, therefore, a warning to some of you head teachers who are well known for your active participation in politics, antagonising the Government of the day, that you should desist from such conduct because we know you,” Mr Mufunga said.
The district commissioner was speaking during the official opening of the district head teachers’ refresher training course in Chavuma.
He said Government was interested and looking forward to work with administrators who were well disciplined and competent in their positions.
He explained that the Patriotic Front (PF) government under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu has prioritised staff development because that was the only way of ensuring improved service delivery to the people, especially in the education sector.
“That is the reason why we have this gathering today which is meant to respond to the call by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to the delivery of quality services to the people and in this case, our learners,” he said.
And Chavuma district education board secretary Douglas Simukange urged head teachers to be disciplined and stop drinking while on duty.
He also appealed to them to be innovative in the way they managed their schools.
