NKANA coach Beston Chambeshi says the club needs to buy players if the team has to improve its performance.
Nkana has recorded three back-back losses this season, with the latest being a 2-1 defeat to Nkwazi on Wednesday in a Week 13 fixture. The Kitwe side lies 11th on the table with 16 points.
Speaking in an interview, Chambeshi charged that the team required strengthening especially in the defence.
“It is sad that Nkana has go down again, two losses in a row since I took over which is not typical of Nkana. We need to buy players to stabilise the squad especially in the defence,” he said.
He said it was unfortunate that the team was not even in the top four on the Super Division table.
He was however confident that Nkana will salvage a point when they play Buildcon this weekend.
“We will work on the lapses noted and prepare well for our next game,” he said.
Chambeshi was brought back to Nkana with the club hopeful he will win the Wusakile team the 2017 title.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Dynamos coach Patrick Phiri is hopeful of finishing the first half of the season on the summit of the Super League.
Phiri hailed his lads for the 1-0 victory over Green Buffaloes which pushed them back on top of the table with 23 points.
“I am happy we are back on top and the boys must be commended for the hard fought battle. Green Buffaloes is a strong time so I am glad we got the three points. The boys were focused and made use of the few chances,” he said.
He said the team was aiming to extend its lead on the table with a win over City of Lusaka on Sunday.
Green Buffaloes coach Bilton Musonda was disappointed with the performance of the team saying the strikers wasted chances.
“We were supposed to win that game, we created a lot of chances but couldn’t get those goals. It is really disappointing,” he said.
