PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Copperbelt Provincial Information and Publicity Secretary Kelvin Sinyangwe has rubbished postings on some blogs suggesting that he would soon join the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Sinyangwe said some desperate members of the opposition NDC were allegedly sending false and misleading information on the blogs to create an impression that there was an exodus of members from the ruling party to the opposition party founded by losing PF Chimwemwe parliamentary candidate Mwenya Musenge.
The former Kitwe Mayor and PF District Chairman said in an interview yesterday that, apart from sending false and misleading information on the blogs, some NDC members have waged a malicious campaign of labelling President Edgar Lungu and the PF to be corrupt.
“Am still PF, am not going any where because I believe in the leadership of President Edgar Lungu. So postings on some blogs that i will soon join the NDC are not true. Such posting can best be described as utter nonsense, its actually a heap of rubbish.
“The people making such postings are people who want to create panic and confusion in PF. They also want to create an impression that there is a mass exodus of people from PF to NDC. They also want to de-campaign PF by leveling false allegation of corruption and theft against PF and President Lungu,” Mr Sinyangwe said.
He also said, in some situations, they were using old pictures on the blogs to convince people that the message sent on the blog was true.
“Like in my case, they have sent an old picture where I was meeting Mr Musenge to convince people that I was attending the NDC meeting and I would soon join them. This is a very dangerous level of desperation where people want to claim that many people are following them,” he said.
Mr Sinyangwe, however advised party members in the province not to be shaken by the resignation of some people from the government because it may be a self-cleansing exercise
Mr Sinyangwe said party members and officials should remain loyal and committed to the party and President Edgar Lungu because he was the party and republican President who deserved respect from all party officials and members.
“President Lungu is a good person who will always take time to act on certain things, but it is unfortunate that some people think is a weak person and want to undermine him. In trying to under mine him, they are saying all sorts of things that he is corrupt and he is a thief.
“Those who want to leave the PF, they should just leave the PF instead of insulting the republican President. To our members, they should not be shaken by some of these people resigning because it may be a self-cleansing exercise which may set the stage for a better PF,” Mr Sinyangwe said
He advised the party leaders and members on the Copperbelt to be alert and remain focused because disgruntled and ambitious politicians were out trying to tell lies about President Lungu and the PF.
And Mr Sinyangwe has advised PF cadres to desist from jumping from one political party to the other following disgruntled politicians because doing so would only render themselves irrelevant in the political scene.
He said, in most cases, disgruntled politicians were failing to achieve their desired goals because they were being driven by anger, frustration, bitterness, hatred and vengeance.
He advised the PF members in the area to welcome new members and continue to be loyal to the PF and President Edgar Lungu who had demonstrated quality leadership of maturity, tolerance and God-fearing. “While some are leaving the PF, others want to join the PF. So, let us welcome new members to the party. Some disgruntled politicians will come here to tell you Sunday School stories, but don’t listen to them because they have no future.
“If you start jumping from one party to the other following disgruntled politicians, you will end up becoming irrelevant to the political scene because people will think you don’t know what you want. You are just moving like a headless chicken. PF and President Lungu means well,” He said.
