TWELVE year old Blessing Phiri has died from burns sustained after her mother poured kerosene on her on suspicion that she had stolen K7.50.
The victim died at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) where she had been admitted since her ordeal almost a fortnight ago.
The mother, Prudence Phiri, was initially charged for arson causing grievous bodily harm, but has since been charged for murder following the demise of her daughter.
“Now today the 5th September, 2017 at about 12:00 hours, the victim who was in UTH died, hence the suspect will now be charged for murder,” she said.
