DO NOT allow yourselves to be used by disgruntled and frustrated politicians who are scheming to destabilise Government because when the law catches up with you, these people will leave you to face the consequences of engaging in illegal activities, North PF has warned youths in the party.
On Friday night last week, suspected PF youths intercepted and impounded 11 trucks laden with Mukula logs around Shimabala area in Kafue which were destined for export to China through the Chirundu border post on allegations that the consignment was illegally leaving the country.
The cadres allegedly confiscated documents, keys to the vehicles, and that huge sums of money went missing during a scuffle with the drivers and the state escort team, prompting Government to intervene by allowing the trucks to proceed, days later.
Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili four days ago issued a statement eulogizing the youths who blocked the trucks, describing them as exemplary individuals whom he worked with when he was national youth chairperson under the PF and offered solidarity to them saying he and NDC stood with them.
Mr. Kambwili challenged them not to relent and not to fear what he termed as weak little men like Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo whom he accused of thinking being minister gave him the right to threaten concerned citizens.
But speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Northern Province PF deputy elections chairperson Chibwaya Muma said those who were lured to cause mayhem by using the name of the party to engage in illegal activities will have themselves to blame when the law caught up with them.
“Some of those youths who were arrested for illegally blocking the trucks containing Mukula logs are behind bars. Where are those who sponsored them? The problem I have with some youths in our party who have divided attention is that they have no foresight and they do not learn.
“Their families are now suffering because of their carelessness of wanting to be used as accomplices to crime even when they know these people advising them wrongly will not be there to help them when the law visits them. As youths, let us not follow people blindly because we will rot in jail while they will be out there scheming on how to resuscitate their dwindling political fortunes,” Mr. Muma warned.
He warned that the hegemony being preached by disgruntled politicians who thought they would stamp their authority on the political arena by causing confusion in PF would boomerang on those being used as their sponsors will not be there to bail them out.
