WE would like to pay special homage and glowing tribute to the throne of the supreme ruler Mwine Lubemba and the Bemba-speaking people for the successful holding of this year’s Ukusefya Pang’wena traditional ceremony, Zambia Jubilee Coalition has said.
Northern Province coordinator Francis Kapyanga said the success of the ceremony symbolized the Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE’s) commitment towards upholding the rich Bemba cultural heritage and values.
Mr. Kapyanga also commended the establishment’s resolute decision to quell political elements which attempted to use the event for political expediency saying such disgruntled minds did not have room at such an important annual event which extended its doors to people beyond the Bembaland.
“We would like to commend the decision taken by the BRE not to invite some political elements who had the intention of assaulting the integrity and decorum of the ceremony by turning it into a political market for their mileage.
“The Ukusefya Pang’wena traditional ceremony like any other ceremony, is an important event not only for the Bemba people but for the country as a whole and helps to unify the people. Therefore, it’s unwise for anyone to play politics during its occurrence.
The traditional ceremony recorded the history of the formation of the Bemba people and nation, their subsequent achievements and the journey from Kola to Lubemba. This is the rich heritage which every Zambian should cherish,” Mr. Kapyanga said.
