Mr. President, remember 9/11
it is not my intention to bring sad memories to the many Americans who were affected by the deaths and injuries brought about by terrorist attacks.
The attacks affected the whole world and many global leaders stood with America against the acts of evil which occurred in our world. It is the words spoken by President George.W.Bush which I want you, Mr. President to remember, treasure and whenever circumstances permit, you should let those words and the principles embedded in them guide your actions. President Bush said, “good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices, secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil despicable acts of terror.
The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat but they have failed, our country is strong. A great people have been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest building but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we are the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America-with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.
The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I have directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them. I appreciate so very much the members of congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance. America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through ages in Psalms 23, “even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me”.
This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before and we will do so this time none of us will ever forget this day. Yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in the world. Thank you, good night and God bless America.”
Mr. President, many world leaders, Europeans, Asians, Africans and various nations in our global village are with America in standing for freedom, peace and justice. Many world leaders are against terrorism. It is destructive to human life and property, worse still, it is destructive to the human soul that harbors in their minds the wish for the acts of terror. It also poses a very serious danger to our children and other lives, who through wrong exposure may have their minds “soiled” with evil of terror against their fellow human beings. My advice Mr. President is, do not exclude the many well intentioned world leaders who have stood with America today and will stand with America in the future against the evils of the world like terrorism.
The words used by President Bush were correct that, “America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world”.
America, being a democracy has the effect and impact of influencing the spread of democracy to many other nations. America, being the biggest economy, opens up opportunities of many economies and peoples who trade with many nations, you are opening up many more opportunities for millions of people in those nations. The many people in man nations whose lives and opportunities are tied with America, will be the defenders of America against evil everywhere. I can say, without hesitation, that there are many individuals, families, communities and nations who want to work with America, open up new opportunities for business and development and fight that evil of terrorism. The future lies in spreading freedom, peace and justice in the world through cooperation opportunities, investments, business, trade and development, while working and coordinating security issues against evil. A world were freedom will be growing while the evil will be decapitated wherever it shows up in individuals, communities and nations. In the words of President Bush, “yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world”.
