Dear Editor,IN 2016, I shared an idea with then Deputy Director of Engineering at Kitwe City Council, Musa Chibawe that resources allowing we needed to expand to four lanes, Freedom Way.Our engineers did some draft road expansion designs and shared them with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing. With expert input from the Roads Development Agency (RDA), a contractor was appointed to design and implement 53 kilometres of road works which included expansion of both Freedom Way and President Avenue.What you see today in Kitwe is a product of team work, proper planning and adequate support from the central government at the highest level of the office of the Republican President.CHRISTOPHER KANG’OMBE, Kitwe Mayor
