By LUCY PHIRITHE Lusaka Magistrate Court has set May 9, 2022 for commencement of trial in a matter in which a Patriotic Front supporter Maxwell Chongu pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding contrary to section 232(a) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.This is a matter in which Chongu is accused of wounding Richard Sinonge and Innocent Nyambe.When the matter came up yesterday, Magistrate Nthandose Chabala set May 9, 2022 for commencement of trial.Previously, Chongu aged 40, of house number 1223, Sugar Street, Avondale, pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding after it was read and explained to him.It is alleged that on March 4, 2017, Chongu allegedly unlawfully wounded Sinonge aged 37 by inflicting a deep cut on his left ankle and Nyambe aged 32 a deep cut on the stomach whilst using a machete.The two victims were allegedly attacked by the accused in North-mead […]
