BY MAKOKWA CLARA MUYENDEKWAA 23-YEAR-OLD man has alleged that he was assaulted by the Drug Enforcement Commission Officers at the time he was arrested.Stanley Andrew Milanzi stood charged with trafficking in psychotropic substances contrary to section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances Act no. 35 of the Laws of Zambia and read together with statutory Instrument No 119 of 1995. Particulars of the offense are that Stanley Andrew Milanzi, a beer salesman of Kachacha compound in Choma District on November 10, 2021 at Choma District in Southern Province did traffic in psychotropic substances namely 142grams of marijuana a herbal product of cannabis saliva without lawful authority.Mr Milanzi told the court that he was stepped on several times and hit hard by Drug Enforcement Commission Officers.“Your honor, I also have a very painful backbone resulting from the same beatings and desperately need medical attention” Milanzi said.He also told the court that he was […]
