Wed, 10 May 2017 10:26:55 +0000 About 42 girls in Solwezi have received scholarship from Kansanshi mining company under the Kwambula project at Solwezi Trades Training Institute. The programme, which started in 2012, is aimed at providing entrepreneurial skills to local school leavers within Kansanshi mine’s catchment area. And in this year’s intake, only female students have been enrolled with the objective of empowering the girl child because all along the majority were male students. And speaking during the launch of the special girls’ intake, Solwezi district commissioner Rosemary Kamalonga said it was encouraging because the girl child was more vulnerable than the boy child and encouraged the students to set the standard for other girls.
