Mr Tonga said that the stance by the UPND not to accept the outcome of last year’s general elections now threatened economic growth of Zambia. He said in an interview with Daily Nation that not accepting President Edgar Lungu as the duly elected President was tantamount to not regarding all Government institutions and officials. Mr Tonga warned that such a stance had the potential to cause anarchy in Zambia hence scaring away tourists and potential investors.
