By OLIVER SAMBOKOA VIBRANT opposition is fundamental to accountable and responsive democratic governance, says US Ambassador to Zambia, Michael Gonzales.Mr Gonzales said this when he met Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile at which they discussed matters of mutual interest.Mr Gonzales said he looked forward to continued engagement with Parliamentarians across the political spectrum to encourage legislative oversight over the government and a constructive legislative agenda to support sustainable and inclusive prosperity in Zambia.The two leaders noted Zambia’s excellent bilateral relations and cooperation with the United States.Mr Gonzales urged the opposition in Parliament to continue providing quality checks and balances to promote transparency and accountability in the country’s governance system.Meanwhile, Mr Mundubile noted the United States of America’s support towards a flourishing democracy in the country.
