By SANFROSSA MANYINDAPOLICE have confirmed a tragedy where a 29-year-old police officer from the Ndola crack squad shot his wife dead, injured his sister-in-law and later shot himself dead.Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu confirmed that Mr Edgar Kamasumba, 29, committed the offence after the two went on separation following marital differences.Ms Zulu said Mr Kamasumba shot himself in the chin at Pamodzi police post.She said the police have since opened a docket and that investigations would be instituted.The incident happened on Tuesday between 16:36 hours and 17:10 hours in Ndola’s Kawama township.She said Constable Kamasumba shot his wife Deborah Kasakula dead and she sustained a broken left arm and suffered gunshot wounds on both cheeks.“Brief facts are that the suspect, now dead is alleged to have had marital problems some three weeks ago with his wife of about two years.“The marital problems resulted into the couple going on separation.
