By GIDEON NYENDWATHE Department of Immigration has rounded up 202 people of different nationalities during a clean-up operation that was conducted in various parts of Lusaka bringing the total number to 436 after a similar operation earlier.Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka said the department apprehended 436 alleged illegal immigrants during the three day clean up exercise that was conducted in Lusaka.Mr Nshinka said after the screening exercise, the Officers released Fifty-Seven 57 persons upon production of proof of legal immigration status in Zambia and mandated 72 to report to immigration headquarters for further investigations.He said the department detained 313 suspected illegal immigrants pending other formalities.Mr Nshinka said the operation that was conducted was led by the by the immigration department and officers from other security wings.He said the immigration was concerned with the growing trend where some members of the public were harbouring illegal immigrants by providing them with accommodation, lodging facilities, […]
