By ROGERS KALEROMINING companies in Lufwanyama should consider empowering vulnerable people with agricultural inputs so that they could venture into farming and contribute towards food security and poverty alleviation as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. District Commissioner Justine Mwalikwa has said his office had received overwhelming response from residents who wanted to venture into farming, but were unable to buy agricultural inputs.Mr Mwalikwa said his office was unable to help them all due to inadequate agricultural inputs hence his appeal to mining companies to consider allocating part of the CSR programmes to procuring farming inputs for the local vulnerable people.“I am impressed that people in the district do not want to rely on government for handouts, but are ready to engage in farming to contribute to food security and poverty alleviation, but the challenge is that they cannot afford to buy agricultural inputs. “This is why I am appealing to mining companies in Lufwanyama to consider […]
