POLICE STATION FACES DEMOLITIONBy ADRIAN MWANZA RICHARD Kachingwe Police Post in Lusaka’s Kabwata Site and Service faces demolition as it is one of the facilities that has been built along the Njanji Commuter train land area.Last week, Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) issued a notice that all illegal structures constructed in the Njanji Commuter Railway Reserve land would be demolished without compensation.Meanwhile, Minister of Transport Frank Tayali said there should not be any discrimination in dispensing justice and the police post should be demolished if it was found wanting.Mr Tayali said that the police post needed to go if it belonged in the encroached premises and they should not be treated as sacred cows.“My simple comment would be that Zambia Railways should be impartial when dealing with this matter but the law should be followed to the letter,” he said.And Zambia Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the premises were just handed to them by the local authority […]
