By OLIVER SAMBOKOTHE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has bought nearly 600, 000 tonnes of maize for strategic storage against the target of 500, 000 tonnes for this harvest season.FRA Public Relations Coordinator John Chipandwe said despite exceeding the target, the agency would continue buying maize until the end of this month.He reminded the farmers to ensure they clean their crops before delivering to any depot as this would save on time spent at a depot.Mr Chipandwe said the maize that has been delivered to FRA is equivalent to K1, 783, 670, 850.00.He said the purchased quantity 594, 556.96 tonnes was against this year’s maize purchase target of 500, 000 tonnes, an achievement rate of 118.91 percent.“The Agency as at Thursday, September 2, 2021, purchased 594, 556.96MTs of Grade A white maize during this year’s on-going crop marketing season,” he stated.Mr Chipandwe said the FRA would continue paying farmers that delivered their crops and was expecting […]
