Deployment of soldiers timely, says SinkambaBy PETER SICHALIDEPLOYMENT of soldiers to help police maintain peace is a timely and welcome move, Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba has said.He said President Edgar Lungu has heard the cries of the people for peace before, during and after next week’s elections.Mr Sinkamba said President Lungu as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, and in line with the Constitution deployed the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force and Zambia National Service across the country to maintain peace.He applauded President Lungu for the bold decision to protect the lives of the people.“As we have stated again, and again, no life is worth being lost for political causes,” Mr Sinkamba said.He said it was important for politicians to understand that no blood was worth shedding for political causes.Mr Sinkamba urged Zambians across the political divide to cooperate with the troops so that they execute their assignment with distinction.
