By MUKWIMA CHILALASOME stakeholders in the transport sector have called for the need for further engagements with Government before considering to extend the number of travelling hours at night for Public Service Vehicles.Transport and Communication Minister, Mutotwe Kafwaya yesterday announced that Government was considering to extend the number of hours to travel at night for public service vehicles and that this would be done before he leaves office next week.But Petroleum Transporters Association of Zambia (PTAZ) secretary-general, Benson Tembo, said Government should first engage stakeholders extensively before making such a move.He said this is because the decision to reduce night travel hours had yielded positive gains in reduction of accidents.Mr Tembo said that the introduction of statutory instrument to reduce night travel for public service vehicles has seen a reduction in deaths from accidents.Mr Kafwaya yesterday said Government has done well in the road sector as seen by the improvement of the country’s road safety […]
