By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSATHE Archdiocese of Lusaka has applied for leave of the High Court to appeal against the decision of the Minister of Local Government to approve a proposal by the Lusaka Muslim Society to open a cemetery near the Catholic Parish House in Ibex Hill, Lusaka.The Church states that the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) rejected the proposed cemetery by the Muslim Society but the Minister overruled.According to an affidavit in support of ex-parte summons for leave to appeal lout of time, a Development and Environmental Management Consultant and Chairperson of Mary Immaculate Parish Catholic Church, Reuben Lifuka, cited Elyas Musa ( in his capacity as Chairperson of the Lusaka Muslim Society) and the Attorney General.Mr Lifuka stated that on July 31, last yeat, he sent an objection to the proposed cemetery by the Muslim Society to ZEMA.He said ZEMA responded on April 13 , this year and attached to the response rejection […]
