The much publicity protest meant to show supported for incarcerated leader Haikande Hichilema, failed because people chickened out. This is despite the defiance that party District Information and Publicity secretary (IPS) David Zimba had shown last week when announcing the planned protest which the local officials had intended to stage with or without police permission. Provincial police commissioner Charity Katanga last week warned the group against the protest because the matter in question was still active in court. The Daily Mail check at the district office yesterday found three land cruisers carrying police officers in riot gear who had sealed the inlet and outlet of the road leading to the party offices.
