Today, it has become fashionable in our courts to release criminals and suspects via unconvincing nolles or acquittals emanating from shoddy police investigations. It is difficult to tell why the situation has been allowed to degenerate to this level but suffice to say that something has definitely gone terribly off beam in our Police Service today. Is it possible the officers have suddenly become dissuaded or the usual cartel has steadfastly moved in to control our men and women in uniform for a few pieces of silver? Police performance of late is not only wretched but a pure shame and if nothing is done and done quickly, Zambia will become a laughing stock as a lawless nation.
