North Western Province commissioner of police Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident to the Daily Nation and named the victim as Tebby Kafwebu, 36. “The incident occurred between 07:00 and 15:00 hours yesterday in Lunga river in Nyakululu area in Chief Ingwe’s chiefdom in the same district,” Mr Daka said. He explained that the victim died after the explosive went off accidentally and killed him instantly, adding that the matter was reported to police by Allan Muyani, the uncle of the deceased.
