By SIMON MUNTEMBA RESIDENTS of Matero have bemoaned the failure by Lusaka City Council (LCC) to remove the huge heaps of garbage at the Chunga dumpsite that have blocked the road from Great North Road to Matero. The road leading to the Chingwele cemetery and Barlastone Park has been blocked, forcing motorists to use alternative routes while unemployed youths had invaded the place to scavenge for food. This came to light when Chunga residents called Lusaka Lawyer and PF Matero aspiring Parliamentary candidate Dickson Jere to help them deal with the issue. “This is very dangerous and life-threatening. I will immediately engage the ministry of local government to find a temporary solution to open the road for now,” Jere said when he met the residents.
