By NATION REPORTERTHE United States has allocated U$1.87 million to Zambia to augment Government’s intervention against the COVID 19 pandemic, First Secretary for press and public relations at the Zambian Embassy in Washington Eric Mwanza has said.Mr Mwanza said the funding was a huge boost to the country’s COVID 19 response and would scale up programmes in risk communication, water and sanitation, infection prevention and control and public health messaging.He said the support from the US government was in addition to nearly $3.9 billion in health assistance and nearly $4.9 billion total assistance already given to Zambia over the past 20 years.The US state department also said new funds were a demonstration of the US Government’s leading global humanitarian and health assistance response to the COVID-19 pandemic.“We are mobilizing all necessary resources to respond rapidly, both at home and abroad.As part of this comprehensive and generous US response, the State Department and USAID are providing […]
